GE Healthcare Recalls Giraffe infant warmers and Panda i-Res infant warmers

GE Healthcare, LLC is announcing a recall on their Giraffe and Panda i-Res infant warmers due to bedside panels and latch areas cracking or breaking.

Issue

The Giraffe and Panda i-Res infant warmers are currently under recall as of July 12th, 2019 because the bedside panels and latch areas of the warmers can crack or break if the unit is moved using the bedside panels instead of the front or rear maneuvering handle. This is extremely important – if an infant comes into contact with a bedside panel with a cracked or broken latch, the panel can disengage and fall open, no longer protecting the infant from falling off of the warmer.

Recalled Products

The following products are affected by this recall as the latch and bedside panels have begun cracking or breaking:

  • Giraffe Infant Warmers and Panda i-Res Infant Warmers.
  • Lot numbers: All lots are involved.
  • Model Numbers: 2063568-001-xxxxxx, 2063570-001-xxxxxx, M1112198-xxxxxx, M1118179-xxxxxx.
  • Manufacturing Dates: October 1, 2007 to February 28, 2019.
  • Distribution Dates: October 1, 2007 to February 28, 2019.
  • Devices Recalled in the U.S.: 25,204.
  • Date Initiated by Firm: March 15, 2019.

US Med-Equip’s Solution

All GE Healthcare infant warmer units from US Med-Equip (USME) are currently being inspected and labeled for any latch cracking or breaking before they go on rent. The units that are currently being rented and coming off of rent are also being inspected and labeled for any damages pertaining to this recall. If you have an affected infant warmer from USME, please email qa@usmedequip.com to place your report and get your unit replaced.
